Greenwood Suspect Captured
In Saluda County After Chase

  A Greewnood County suspect, who escaped on foot in Saluda County, Thurs., Jan 31, was captured later that day.
  Michael Alvin Brewer was arrested by Saluda County Sheriffs Office. at Larkin Rice Road and Old Chappells Ferry Road near Greenwood Highway around 8 p,m.
  Around 5:15 p.m. a citizen called 911. They reported that the fugitive from Greenwood County was in their shop behind their house at 1188 Greenwood Highway in Saluda.  
  The Sheriffs Office responded to the home, and the chase insued with K9s. Deputies apprehended the suspect, chasing him on foot.
  Earlier that day, Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office was led in a vehicle chase by Brewer.  Brewer wrecked on Dave Road in Saluda County and managed to exit the vehicle and take off on foot.
Both Sheriff’s Departments, along with SLED,  began the search for him in the Greenwood Hwy. community around Midway Store.
  Bloodhounds and a helicopter were used in the search.

Youth Duck Hunt Sucessful

  On Saturday, February 2nd, twelve youth participated in a duck hunt on Padgett Pond and the family farm of the Randy Barnes Family in Saluda County.
  The first Saturday after the regular duck season is designated as a Federal Youth Duck Hunt along with the following Saturday.  The youth must be under sixteen years old and must be accompanied by an adult or if 16 or 17 years old must have a hunting license and required duck stamps.  Guides and breakfast were supplied by the land owners.
  The young hunters harvested eight ducks and were afforded many opportunities to practice their hunting skills under the watchful eyes of their accompanying adult.
  Members of the SCHS have as one of its many goals providing educational opportunities for young people and fostering their appreciation of the beauty and bounty of Saluda County.

SHS  Basketball

  Saluda High School Boys Varsity Basketball beat Fox Creek High School 64-57 Friday, February 1.
  The Tigers were led in scoring by Trey Bryant with 28, Dallan Wright 12, and Raquon Hartley 11.
  Saluda High School Boys Varsity Basketball fell to Ninety Six High School 70-64 Tuesday, January 29. Tigers were led in scoring by Trey Bryant with 23, Dallan Wright 14, Keenan Brooks 12.    
  Saluda High School Boys Varsity Basketball fell to Silver Bluff High School 69-63 Friday, January 25.
  Tigers were led in scoring by Dallan Wright with 22, Raquon Hartley 11, and Jervon Whitt 10.
